At a time in the region when elections and political transitions have been a major source of instability and tension, Ghana’s election provides a significant landmark for democracy on the continent.
As pro-democracy networks committed to the regional and continental aspirations of democracy and good governance, Ghana’s exemplary democratic leadership and recent electoral gains from Senegal and Liberia provide renewed hope for addressing the democratic recession in Africa, particularly West Africa.
