The West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS) is excited to announce the official launch of the Democracy Opportunity Support Fund (DEMOS-Fund) today, June 1, 2023.
The DEMOS-Fund is a WADEMOS flagship initiative established to respond to early signs or warning indicators of democracy deterioration within the very fragile socio-political context in the West Africa sub-region and to promote new opportunities for democratic reform and other pro-democracy efforts in the Region. The initiative specifically aims to:
- Foster collective, national, and regional actions and efforts in addressing democratic backsliding in West Africa around the five (5) pillars of the Network
- Enhance innovation and creativity among Pro-Democracy actors within the sub-region.
- Improve timely and relevant democratic backsliding interventions and responses within the sub-region
The DEMOS-Fund supports Network Member’s (including individuals and social movements) initiatives to address democratic backsliding and respond to timely needed democratic interventions within the sub-region.
WADEMOS is very pleased to launch this new initiative that will help in advancing democratic norms, reforms, and value within the Sub-region and wishes to thank members and partners organizations who have supported WADEMOS deployment within the sub-region since its creation.
