The West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network is scheduled to launch one of its flagship programs, the Democracy Opportunity Support Fund (DEMOS Fund) on June 1, 2023. The DOSF initiative is part of the Network’s strategies to leverage on the resources and capabilities of pro-democracy actors to contribute towards advancing and protecting democracy in West Africa.
Among others, the DEMOS Fund has been established in response to early signs or warning indicators of democracy deterioration within the very fragile socio-political context in the West Africa sub-region and to promote new opportunities for democratic reform and other pro-democracy efforts in the Region.
The DEMOS Fund seeks to foster collective, national, and regional actions and efforts in addressing democratic backsliding in West Africa; Strengthen cooperation, and collaboration among network members and within WADEMOS priority areas and interventions; Enhance innovation and creativity among Pro-Democratic actors within the sub-region; Improving timely and relevant democratic backsliding interventions within the sub-region.
