Press and Media Freedom
We partner with regional and national media organizations to affirm our commitment to a free and safe political environment for independent and credible journalism and expression without fear or threats. We also build the capacity of the media to be professional and independent to improve transparency, inclusivity, and accountable governance across West Africa.
Our work on Press and Media Freedom includes:
- building the capacity of the media to play their role as the Fourth Estate in a democracy
- ensuring that all persons enjoy the right to freedom of expression without fear or threats by any actors
- forging partnerships with citizen groups to push for legislation on access to information while creating awareness and ensuring compliance with the law in their respective countries.
- empowering and building media capacity to deal with the threat of disinformation and misinformation in a democracy
