A coalition of civil society organizations in West Africa has called on ECOWAS to strengthen its credibility by successfully implementing reforms essential to maintaining its legitimacy and becoming the ECOWAS of the people.
In a sub-regional context marked by growing challenges to democratic governance, abuse of human rights, instability, and threats of disintegration, the civil society actors, expressed their shared commitment to consolidating the democratic values on which our community is based.
The coalition also urged ECOWAS to strengthen its role as a guarantor of stability and good, accountable governance to address these challenges.
